Edd,
It's a breathtakingly spectacular drive from Terlingua to Lajitas (hopefully the road construction has been completed) and then Redman, Presidio, Shafter and finishing in Marfa. Allow 6 hours, it's a very narrow road with many curves and few areas to allow for passing. The Highway Patrol patrol the highway so do not speed. ( I learned my lesson last year.)
If this is your first visit to the Big Bend area, I would suggest the National Park..............it is worth the drive!

Mary,
Based on rainfall analysis alone, there were parts of the Big Bend area that got about average rainfall in the fall-winter time period. I would interested in any information from your contacts about the wildflower bloom in that area. I was planning a trip to Big Bend State Ranch this year, but due to the lack of rain I felt it would not be a good year.
