On the whole, not much in the way of bluebonnets, but there were a large sample of other wildflowers along the highways and byways of West Texas.
From Dallas on IH-30 which turned into IH-20 to Midland/Odessa.
As I traveled along IH-20, I saw small patches of bluebonnets until Sweetwater. Around Sweetwater, there were some stretches of bluebonnets along side of the highway. Other than Sweetwater, there was little bluebonnets in evidence.
The flowers seen were Missouri Primrose, Lemon Paintbrush, Spectacle Pod, Texas or threadleaf grounsel, and others to be identified in the Identifying Wildflowers section of the forum.

South on SH-385 from IH-20 (Odessa) to Big Bend.
Though there were no stretches of wildflowers, there was plenty of color along SH-385. Most of the trip south was showing Verbena with some Aster, Huisache Daisy, Fleabane, Missouri Primrose, and Prickly Poppy. The prickly poppy was seen mainly between Marathon and the park entrance of Big Bend.
More to come ...
two cents and then some ...
