2006 Earth Day at Riverside Nature Center
Date: Saturday, April 22, 2006

Riverside Nature Center and the Kerrville Chapter of the Native Plant Society are again co-sponsoring this great event at the Center.  The grounds will be beautiful; the plant sale will be bigger and better than ever; the education programs and demonstrations will be outstanding; and the food, music, displays and children's nature activities will make it a wonderful outing for the whole family.  Plus, admission is FREE! 
Come and enjoy!!
 
Note: WildflowerHaven.com will be conducting a presentation on Hunting Texas Wildflowers from 1-2pm.

9:30 – 10:30 a.m.  Weather Trends Found in Archeology—by Bryant Saner, President of the Hill Country Archeological Association  (in Visitor Center Meeting Rm)

11:00 – 12:00 p.m. Native Plants in Kerr County—What’s Changed in 150 Years?—Presenter, Susan Sander, Founder of RNC (in Visitor Center Meeting Rm)

1:00 – 2:00 p.m.  Hunting Texas Wildflowers by author, Rich Olivieri, Texas Master Naturalist (in Visitor Center Meeting Rm) 

2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Texas Snakes—Come See Some LIVE Ones! by Conn Carson of Mo Ranch— (in Visitor Center Meeting Rm)

8:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.  Star Party!!!!!  Fun for the WHOLE family!!!  Program for adults—NASA & the U. S. Space Program!—by   Admission fee--$2.00 for adults; $1.00 for kids 12 and under; $5.00 for family of 4 or more

 Ask the Plant Experts—by Dr. Bob Dewers, Retired A&M Professor & Jim Stanley, Texas Master Naturalist (near the Pavilion)

The History of the Lawson Store—HEB’s First Competitor, Jay Keen (Lawson Store)

The Value of Earthworms & Other Composting Information—by Art Stokes (front porch of Visitor Center)

Food & Cold Drinks—Available from 11:00 a.m.  to 2:00 p.m. (side porch of Visitor Center)

Display Tables on Native Plant Society of Texas Organization; Riverside Nature Center Association; Master Naturalist Organization; Master Gardeners Organization; Upper Guadalupe River Association (around the Pavilion area)

Car Displays:  2 Toyota Prius by Dr. Don Robinson; Ford’s Escape from Ken Stoepel Ford; and 2 Antique/Classic car(s) by Hill Country Car Club (parking lot area)

Escorted Canoe Rides!!!available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.—FEE:  $2.00 per adult; $1.00 per kid 12 & under—kids must be accompanied by an adult (down by the Guadalupe)
