Greenthread Alert!

North of Austin on the frontage road medians of IH-35 (near and through Round Rock), there is a lot of color, mainly greanthread with about 60 to 75% coverage. Within these yellow flowers, I saw indian blankets, individual bluebonnets, purple winecups, and lots of coneflowers and mexican hats.

Edd,

Thanks for the report. This is in an area that I have been watching. The counties to the north and east of Austin received more rainfall than the counties south and west of Austin. The main concern I have is that I know the area around Round Rock and Georgetown is either developed or cultivated.

However, there might be some opportunities around Lake Georgetown and Lake Granger (east of Granger in Williamson County). Another possible area based on my childhood knowledge is the road to Florence (SH-195) and the side roads off of it.
