San Antonio: Bluebonnets are back along FM-1283

After a few years of dismal showing, bluebonnets have returned to FM-1283. FM-1283 is the main route to Medina Lake on the west-northwest side of San Antonio.

While not at the coverage back in the banner years of 1999 and 2000, there are a few stretches where the coverage is 60-70%.  The 2 mile section of FM-1283 that starts about 2 miles west of the intersection with FM-471 has the most coverage.

About 4 miles west of FM-471 there is a field on the left with cactus and bluebonnets mixed.  The shoulders are wide enough at that point to pull over safely.

Patches of phlox can also be seen along FM-1283, sometimes mixing with the bluebonnets.
