I just received a phone report on conditions along SH-16 from Fredericksburg to San Saba and including a portion of Willow City Loop. I might have photos later.
Fredericksburg: Several yards have bluebonnets blooming in them along SH-16.
SH-16 from Fredericksburg to Willow City Loop: This section is pretty bared with only a few blooms here and there.
Willow City Loop (north end): Bluebonnets are beginning to bloom along Willow City Loop and into the fields. The blooms are still early blooms with mainly green-white tips. Based on the description given to me, I estimated that Willow City Loop will be in full bloom by next weekend (Mar 31- Apr 1) and peaking around Easter weekend. With the recent rains and slightly cooler temps forecasted we should see an extended bloom until around April 15th. After April 15th, the bluebonnet blooms will be in decline.
North Llano: The roadsides are beginning to fill will early blooms and extending some into the fields.
San Saba County: Bluebonnet early blooms were seen, but not as many as further south along SH-16 or Willow City Loop. There are plenty of rosettes so it should be a very nice display in the Cherokee and North Llano areas.

My thoughts: The more I personally see and hear; the more I am thinking this is turning out to be a really nice wildflower season. Not all spots in the Hill Country will experience a good showing, but there will be plenty of spots that do. I really think the May wildflowers will be awesome.
