San Antonio: Eisenhower Park - hike in the wildflowers

Eisenhower Park (a San Antonio natural area) offers paved and non-paved hiking trails. The park is noted more for its birding opportunities, but in good years wildflowers paint the open spaces along the trails with wildflower color. This year is a good year. I often hike the main trail that leads up to the tower (.9 miles one way and a good cardio exercise). On Wednesday, 4/4/2007, along the main trail, I saw a variety of wildflowers. If you are looking for a place to take an Easter walk or hike in the wildflowers then Eisenhower is the place.

To my surprise, I saw one of my favorite wildflowers, the celestial - wild iris. There were several spots with numerous celestials. On my travels today, I found another great spot for photos of celestials along FM-3009 near Natural Bridge Caverns.
