Bluebonnets in Bandera - Phone Report
Reply Quote

I just got a phone report of bluebonnet fields along RR-173 south of Bandera, Texas. Back in 2000-2003, this area had good coverage of bluebonnets. This is the first time in many years that I have had reports of bluebonnet fields in that area.

Near the area reported is the Hill Country Natural Area. This was also another great spot for bluebonnets in natural settings. I would imagine that the bluebonnets are in about the same condition as those around Willow City Loop, since the elevation and climate are similar.

Update: This is 11 miles south of Bandera along RR-173 and 18 miles north of Hondo. The area is about 1/2 mile long with bluebonnets flowing down and up a hill. The bluebonnets look like they have peaked, so they will be fading soon.
