My mother in law and I would like to know what wildflower this is, that we passed by the side of the road tonight near Lago Vista, in the hill country northwest of Austin.
A photo is attached. Have four photos; this is the best comprehensive one.
The flower and stalk is seven inches long, with a single head of very small pale pink-purple flowerets, that ahve six sharp-looking petals each around an inside the same color and several stamens. The flowers have a pleasant scent like a florist's shop. The stalks each have two or three grass-like leaves. There was another stalk with two regular leaves enar the base with three lobes each, but I don't know if it was actually part of the same plant. They had shriveled to nothing by the time I got home.
Yours, Dora Smith Austin, TX

From what I can tell from the photo, it looks like wild onion (Allium canadense) or wild garlic (Allium Drummondii). Based on color is a closer match to wild garlic which varies from white to pink to purple-red, but the color of wild onion can vary from white to pink as well. There is also some differences in the use of the common names for these two plants.
See if this photo is what you think the flower is:
