10-07-2007, 7:42 PM RichO Joined on 02-15-2005 San Antonio, TX Posts 637 A little color in the hills... Saturday, I visited Gorman Falls which is located in Colorado Bend State Park (Bend, Texas). I took SH-16 north from Llano and RR-501 east from Cherokee to get to the park. Along the way I saw very little color from wildflowers. Just before Chappel at the Cherokee Creek bridge along RR-501, I did come across a large stretch of Maximilian sunflowers and a large patch of Eryngo (striking purple wildflower that looks like a thistle). Maximilian sunflowers are also blooming along I-10 between Boerne and Comfort and along US 281 before and after Johnson City.     RichO Hunting Texas Wildflowers    Report

Good to see you out and about :) Pat and I got to go home (Denver) the last week of September and really enjoyed the ride through Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and back again. The photos from the trip (WARNING there are 300+) are at http://www.grigsbys.smugmug.com/gallery/3516026 Not many wildflower shots but a lot of pretty aspens and mountains. I was really impressed by Caprock State Park compared to Palo Duro Canyon. Murry Flowers will brighten your day whether mild or wild, Murry!    Report
