Big Bend National Park is thick with their special tall variety of bluebonnets along all the roads in the park.  Especially beautiful is the road from the main (north) park entrance to Panther Gap station, where there are bluebonnets mixed with what I believe is desert marigold as far as the eye can see.  The smell is heavenly!  Yuccas are in bloom, some cactus are flowering (although their peak will be later) and the desert is as green as I've ever seen it.

Thank you for the report.  I wanted to go this year, but was in the midst of getting the book off to the printers.

The River Rd that goes through Big Bend Ranch State Park is also supposed to be awesome right now.

Have you any photos of your trip?

I think the yellow flowers might be bladderpod as it is reportedly common to that area of Texas.
