Big Bend National Park

I was out at Big Bend for a week traversing the many trails and there were very few blooms of any kind. Last year, it was a motherlode of bluebonnets and other varieties, but this year, Big Bend was empty of color.

Looks like the further west you go the worse the wildflower season gets.

That seems to be true ... there were a few bluebonnets out in BiBe, just not in large or even medium sized quantities.

This bluebonnet (though not so blue at dawn) is near the Terlingua Creek(?) before it hits the Rio Grande at Santa Elena Canyon:
