Bluebells near Hamilton - email report
Reply Quote
I got the following report via email:

"...about 5 miles outside of Clifton, West on FM 219 there is a really nice patch on the left hand side of the road, close enough to the fence to take pictures. As I got closer to Hamilton they became more abundant along the sides of the road, then about 11 miles from Hamilton, on HWY 22, there is a REALLY large patch on the left hand side of the road... "

More Pictures of the Bluebells Near Hamilton

I was able to get out into the field of bluebells yesterday, and took more pictures.  The pictures just don't capture the beauty of this field, or at least mine don't. There were still unopened blooms on most of the plants, and some were beginning to die. It is SO dry, it amazes me that they are doing so well. I have seen a lot of bluebells this year in Bosque and Hamilton Counties, but nothing like this field.

Very lovely photos. Thanks for sharing them with us. It was really great that the owner gave your permission to walk the field to get close up shots. Looks like the cows were right on your trail as you took the photos - perils of wildflower hunter!

I am not completely surprise at the number of bluebells in that area. The Hamilton area received normal to above normal rainfall in Mar-May which are the months critical for plants blooming in June - July. Combine that with a fairly good water table and you have the correct amount of rainfall that bluebells need.

The bluebells seem to be popping up everywhere. There was even an article in our local news paper about them. Here is the link for anyone interested  http://www.cliftonrecord.com
