Edd,
Check out the home page of http://www.wildflowerhaven.com . I have a photo with a short article on Fall Wildflowers posted there. You can also search the forums here for previous posts on the subject of fall wildflowers.

I usually do not make any long trips in the fall to seek out fall wildflowers. The trips I do make are mostly local to the Hill Country near me. The road to my property often has some good patches of Snow on the Mountain and Maximilian sunflowers. I have made trips out to an area northwest of Kerrville to capture some photos of fall asters and Texas asters.

The section of I-10 from Boerne to Comfort usually has some good displays of Maximilian sunflowers.
