08-06-2005, 6:27 AM FlowerPower Joined on 03-08-2005 The Woodlands, Texas Posts 136 Gay Feather They just recently extended Woodlands Parkway through to FM2978 here in The Woodlands, Texas and as I was trying it out I noticed a couple bunches of Gay Feather between the road and the tree line.  It was an unexpected, colorful and pleasant surprise for the heat of late July and early August.  So I stopped and took a few photos.  I liked this closeup the best: http://www.pbase.com/photomurage/image/46993355.jpg  The only other real color we have now is bitterweed and so far I haven't gotten a photo that I like yet. There are two major species listed in Geyata's book...the elegant gayfeather (July-November, white-pink-lavender) and narrow-leaf (June-August, purple-reddish).
