I believe this is the one Rich references in his Texas Hill Country book on page 8.

Your picture tells it better than my notes.  Very nicely done, thanks for sharing it with us!

Were you able to get close enough to smell the fragrance?

Also...a note of caution to others reading.  My good friends Shannon and Justin Moore at Wild Texas happened to observe a serious accident at this very spot.  The spot is along US 281 which is usually really busy.  If you stop here, please be very careful.

Oh yeah - all you have to do is open the car door and you can smell those bluebonnets.

By the way, this picture won 3rd place at the Texas State Fair in 2003.  Big Smile [:D]

You're right - that is a very busy road.  There were a lot of people stopped taking pictures when we were there.

And I can see why it won! It is a great shot. 

2003 was actually a better season than 2004.  For me 2001 has been the best season in recent years.  Bluebonnets were lining the streets near where I live in San Antonio...and Willow City Loop was flowing with bluebonnets.
