BBCode is a syntax for inserting formatting into forum posts. Most of the standard formatting commands are available in the rich text editor, but some like embedding photos are not. Also, your browser might not support the use of the rich text editor, so BBCode can be used to add formatting to your message post.

Here is an external link to what is generally consider the "official" BBCode guide. Changes to BBCode are usually posted here.

BBCode will work in the rich text editor or the HTML editor.

Alternately you can use a subset of HTML to add formatting to your messages. There seems to be a bug in the software that does not always show the proper preview of the html formatting.

Imbedding photos still a problem for me from Smugmug

Rich,
When I wrap the URL with the BBCodes they look fine and the photos display in the edit mode but when I post and then look at it the brackets have become less than/greater than signs and the photos don't appear. What am I doing wrong?? Thanks!

I ordered the hunting texas wildflowers book 11/1/2007. My charge card was billed 11/2/2007, but I never recieved the book. I didn't know how to get in touch with anyone.

How To Add Images To Posts

Presently there are only two ways to link or to embed an image in a post.

First! Your image must be accesible from the Internet. In others words it can not be on your computer, or not available because of password or firewall protection.

To Link to an image:

You can merely link to the image by just pasting in the link.

Like this:

Or use the hypertext link button in the rich text toolbar to create a link with a label.

Nether of these options will display the image inline, but merely provide a link to where the photo can be viewed.

To embed a photo so that it will display inline in the message you must use BBCode or type the html img tag using the HTML tab below the edit window.

Thumbnail picture problem

Rich:

I added a photo to the "Identification Gallery," the Red Blooms gallery. The photo is there, but the thumbnail does not show a picture at all. You click on the red X and the photo appears. What can I do about it?

Feedback on "Meet the Lemon Mint"

Enjoyed the article, but the add a comment button did not work. Was that intentional?

I was also wondering where in the state are we most likely to see the lemon mint. The article did not discuss its range. I have seen lemon mint in North Texas with fields of it (mixed with firewheels) at Palo Duro Canyon State Park in early May of last year.

Hi, my name is Alans Granny. I just stumbled on the site and it is awesome! I was so excited to find others who enjoy wild flowers and taking pics!

One question, I had years ago when growing up, (now am as old as dirt)a small set of pictures of wild flowers that could be colored in the way you wanted them. I am now looking for pictures of wild flowers that I and my granson can color according to the pictures we have taken. So far all I have found on the net is ones that are dark and not able to be colored with pastels, map pencils, or crayons. Does anyone know where we might find copies of such, or by a coloring book of them? You would make both me and my grandson (6)very happy if you have any info!
