Even though the bluebonnets are sprinkled with yellow this is a terrific spot to shoot the kids, pets, etc in a big patch of wildflowers. There is plenty of room to park and the field is not fenced.

Just as you come into Nelsonvill on TX159 you'll see a neat farm on the hill with a Texas windmillwith a white church further up the hill. Walk to the bottom of the unfenced field opposite the church to snap this image.

I try not to exaggerate when describing my sightings but this 64 acre filed is amazing and I try to visit it each year. It's for sale if you'd like to buy it and save the flowers.

A wonderful spring flower mix. The top (west side) of the field seems to have many more bluebonnets.

This old house sits in the middle of a wonderful field of wildflowers. I think the shutters and old pump add a great touch.

Engelmann's daisy, bluebonnets, paintbrush, dotted blue-eyed grass are just a few of the wildflowers covering this field one mile west of Industry, Texas along SR-159.

It appears that cattle prefer bluebonnets to grass when taking a break from eating, or perhaps cattle do not sleep where they eat.

Cows in Bluebonnet Valley

Cows grazing in a valley of bluebonnets along FM-2502 just at the intersection of SH-109 north of Industry. This scene illustrates what early pioneers might have seen only with bison. The pioneers would have seen the bison grazing in the bluebonnets and mistakenly thought the bison were eating the bluebonnets. Thus, one of the early names for bluebonnets was "buffalo clover."

This Frelsburg cow threatened to take me from 100 yards away when she saw me trying to take pics of the babies. I was on the other side of the fence. I didn't grow up on a farm for nothing!

Frelsburg is on 109 about 10 miles south of Industry. While you're there, be sure to stop at Heinsohn's store. The store has been there since the 1840's, and the Heinsohns have had it since the 1920's. It is truly an amazing place.

I haven't been able to identify this one yet. Ajilvsgi's "Wildflowers of Texas," doesn't have it. Haven't had time to check the other books, but hope one of them has it. It's about 3/4" across.
