This is one segment of a very long field along the eastside of US 71 SE of Llano between CR-306 and CR-307. The field is well over 100 yars long. The bluebonnets spread into the wide shoulder.

Old Spanish Trail intersects Hwy 29 just west of the intersection with FM1431. I always go there when I make my trip to the Highland Lakes area, stalking the wild (fill in the blank).

This idyllic scene can be found near Fuzzy's corner. The property owners have a sense of humor and seem to be gracious enough to tolerate the occasional shutterbug rubbernecker.

Firewheels and Coneflowers in Llano County

In northern Llano County, a few firewheels are still in bloom along with a good showing of clasping leaf coneflowers.

Painted Red

Enchanted Rock SNA provides a number of opportunities to get close up photos of wildflowers. When the water is flowing, there are wildflowers blooming along the many small streams.

This is a small sample of what will be widespread in the Llano area by Memorial Day. This photo was taken in Lone Oak at the intersection of CR-216 and RR-2241. The flowers are coreopsis.

The Yellow Spread of Coreopsis

Coreopsis is spreading across fields replacing the red of firewheels with yellow. This is one field along CR-202 northeast of Llano. Notice the small dots in the photos. These dots are coreopsis buds getting ready to bloom soon.
