Prairie Paintbrush Castilleja purpurea a perennial comes in three color varieties of C. purpurea, pink to purple; C. citrina, yellow; and C. Lindheimeri, orange. Bloom period is March - June. The color like the Texas paintbrush comes from the bracts and not the actual flowers.
