Dogwood Sweep in Davey Dogwood Park in Palestine, Texas

The Davey Dogwood Park is just north of Palestine, Texas off of loop256 at Link Street.. The roads are quite narrow so looking is all you can do safely. Go to the picnic area in the center of the park where you can park and easily shoot photos of the dogwood trees and blooms. Some trees are full out and some are in early bloom. The park looks like it is decorated with thousands of small white lights.

There are fields on both sides of the highway just covered with bright yellow blooms. To complete your photos there are several old farm buildings, fence rows bursting with multi-colored wildflowers and majestic trees covered in every shade of spring green. It’s worth the drive! US79 is busy so please be careful. There are nice wide shoulders to pull off the highway.

Sugar Ridge Hill

Bluebonnet Dog

One of two dogs that seemed to roam free along the road. Both were very friendly and enjoyed romping through the bluebonnets.

Tractor Cannot Mow Them

Fences Cannot Hold Them

Taken in one of the two fields open to the public. This field had a sign that read, "Bluebonnet Watchers Welcome" The gate is to the neighbor's property where bluebonnet watchers were not invited.

Wild Hyacinth

One half mile into the biking trail at Dorba trail is a small prairie field moderately-to-heavily covered with bluebonnets.

Star Wars

The reason for the title is that these colorful trees seemed to be at war with the one that was dead. This was also along highway 43 between Marshall and Caddo Lake on 11/09/06.
