I took a trip to my favorite "cool off" spot in the Hill Country - Inks Lake State Park. Along the way, I stopped to check on the golden wave in Llano County. Sadly, due to work and the recent storms, I missed the peak of the wave. The golden wave (coreopsis) is past its prime flowering and there are now more seedpods than blooms.
I did spot several large displays of purple horsemint, basketflower, and greenthread.

Erect dayflower along SH-29

There is still wildflower color in the Hill Country and you do not have to travel very far to find some nice spots.
Up next will be the bluebell gentians and the mountain pink which has already been spotted near Kerrville.
